I think that today’s letter brings up a very important aspect of body image and healing–finding the positive in everything.  Although it’s still difficult at times for me to declare “I LOVE MYSELF” without any caveats, it always helps me to focus on the things that I know that I love without question.

    • I love my eyes.
    • I love my legs.
    • I love my…

…And, if  I can’t get any further than that, it’s OK.  I’ve already taken myself off of the hateful road that I might have started down just moments before.

More importantly, when I’m in doubt about my body, it always helps me to focus on the qualities within myself that have no superficial value.

    • I love my ability to listen when someone needs a friend.
    • I love the compassion that I naturally feel for others.
    • I love my dedication to my goals.
    • I love my intelligence.
    • I love my sense of humor.
    • I love my ability to love without fear.

As you will notice, the “non-superficial” list is always exponentially larger than the superficial.  When it all comes down to it, my goal is to ALWAYS look better on the inside than on the outside.

What do you love about yourself?
