Have you seen today’s “beautiful” post?

There is much to be said about the way that we perceive our bodies.  We have all been “engineered” to be unique and different, yet many of us continuously strive (consciously or subconsciously) to fit a standard mold of what we feel is ‘normal’.

    • What is ‘normal’?
    • Is ‘normal’ different for every person?
    • If you believe that ‘normal’ is unique to everyone, are you living in your ‘normal’, or striving to achieve another person’s ‘normal’?
    • Have you found your ‘normal’?

I don’t think I’ll ever find my “Normal”. I’ve been obsessed with slimming down since I was about twelve years old. I guess my body is normal, especially culturally. I’m a black woman, so my waist is tiny, and I have big hips, and a big booty. My butt wasn’t always this big! I sued to be a size 4, but since having my daughter two years ago, I’m way too curvy.

I am definitely striving to achieve another person’t normal. I wish I was skinny like Angelina Jolie.

    • Sometimes, it’s difficult to focus on the things that we already have: health, happiness, love…

I find comfort sometimes in remembering the accomplishments that my body has physically made. I’ve run several races–even a marathon! I’ve healed from injuries and come back stronger. My only solstice sometimes is just remembering that my body is an amazing machine, and it is MINE…regardless of whether it’s a little lumpy or bumpy in some areas. =)

Nicole, what an incredible and amazing thing to have accomplished with your own body: the pregnancy and birth of your daughter! To me, that is AMAZING!
